More Scrappin

I spent today folding Mt. Everest of laundry, running around to grab a few last minute gifts, and trying to get ready for this coming holiday. Holy crap... we have just 2.5 days till Christmas!

I can't believe it.

It comes so quickly and goes just as quick. Made another little page yesterday with some photos of our tree and decorations this year. I'll miss all the sparklies in the house when the holidays are over...

Scrappies

I haven't scrapped since my friends came in the beginning of November, and that's been a while. A long while. So last night after we got home from dinner with my family, I sat down and made a few things with my new Studio Calico kit. (Which is fabulous, by the way.)

I'm so bad, I bagged the gym today. My workout buddy cancelled and my ankle is a little sore from twisting it Saturday eve after the run. I'm going to get some laundry folded, (maybe get my Christmas cards out, HA), and then head off to work. I hope everyone has a lovely day!

This Week

I've been thinking a lot about goals. I was also thinking of a layout I made this past year about goals and really I've achieved several of them. Goal weight has been scratched... but that's been something on-going for years. I do eat healthy, just a bit too much at times (woops).

But I got a new job, got two things published. I have stayed on the healthy eating track. And I've done things in my life I never thought I would do, but I'm excited for this coming year. To try more things. To push myself out of the box even more. To set new boundaries for myself.

I'm gathering quotes for a little project. Will you guys comment with your favorite quotes and I'll give something away to a random commenter. :)

Its time...

to turn on the Christmas Tunes. I can't help it. Jamie made me a bunch of awesome mixes last year that I put on my I-Tunes... so I've got them going now. I'm drinking mimosas and making Christmas cards. Hubs will be home soon and he's putting up the tree and we're going to decorate it together. I can't wait!

This year I'm going to try to do a few more hand-made goodies. I've already gotten two tea-towels done in front of the TV yesterday. My very first embroidery... I think they turned out cute.

I've got some Christmas Cards a brewin... I like non-traditional colors on Christmas cards sometimes. I think pink and green are so cute together. Here are the first four of the year:

And... drumroll please.... my SCRAPROOM IS CLEAN!!!

Well, mostly. Clean enough to work in... so I had to get in here today and have at it!
What are you doing to get yourself in the holiday spirit?

I've been feeling a little uninspired lately. I don't know if its the crap weather we've been having here or the fact that my activity is so restricted I feel like I'll get in trouble if I bend over to pet the dog. Maybe a little combo of both. For me... I whine and bitch about working out (dejavu much?) but I do know this... it definitely makes me a more motivated and happy person. Something about those endorphins really gets me going. I can't wait to get out on my new bike, go hiking and camping, and get my arse off the couch. It's not as much fun to sit around when that's all you can do. I thought about maybe planting a pot or two last night... but that's about as far as I got, just thinking about it. I'm hoping the motivation comes back soon, cuz its driving me crazy... I'm trapped in my own body.

I had a little creative spurt last night and made a layout for OLW. The stamps are all Purple Onion... and honest, that little filigree corner, how pretty is that? I just love it... and that little tiny leaf stamp? Its precious, seriously.

Do you guys have any good music you've been listening to lately? I've been addicted to the new DMB Single "Funny the Way It Is" and I love it. Happy Thursday.

i don't think you're ready for this jelly

okay, time for the winner... i did the random integer generator for complete randomness and no favoritism...

so because there was one duplicate post, kristi, you're the winner! email me @ adripofcoffee@hotmail.com and ill send your loot.

made a layout tonight using some purple onion goodness and its also for one little word, which i haven't done in a long time, but was feeling inspired.

journaling reads:
26 years old
learning to love herself
struggling to accept her body image
courageous
mature
decisive
kind
becoming confident
loud and quiet
quirky
collector of vocabulary words and hugs
i see me.

friday, february, and fabulous

ahhh, tonight we're heading over to the melting pot for happy hour and having a delictible treat of cheese and chocolate fondue. and i suspect there will be cocktails as well. ahhh yes, love the cocktails.

this weekend i plan on trying a new recipe of champagne jelly... it combines lovely bubbly and white grape juice and i'm hoping it will make a great addition to our wine and cheese evenings paired with a nice cracker and cheese. i really, really love making jelly lately. i mean, LOVE it. i think about it almost as much as i think about being in my scrap room (almost). if anyone has any jelly recipes they'd like to share, i'd love to have them... you can email them to me at adripofcoffee@hotmail.com and... i'm thinking of doing a jam giveaway. is that weird? i promise my kitchen is clean and i sterilize my jars, etc. so, be watching for that. i think it might be fun. my blog is due for a giveaway.

its beautiful outside (i'm looking at it now and longing to be out there) and all i can think about is making my yard pretty, opening the doors and cleaning out the winter dust. sister and i are going running in the park this afternoon, it will be nice to have some fresh air in my lungs. i am so ready for spring and for summer. i am ready to grill, sip a cool drink on the back porch, and enjoy the sun until well into the evening. please hurry up and get here, k?

and because no posts are complete without pictures, here's a new layout i did of miss steph with my studio calico kit from this month:

exhausted!

we had a great weekend!

saturday we celebrated my sister's birthday. my mom (and I) made pepper crusted filet mignon with a blue cheese cream sauce, homemade onion rings, roasted asparagus, and sauteed wild mushrooms. then my cheesecake for dessert. there is only one word for such a feast... I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E. of course, with such rich food... comes a stomachache. which i had promptly after finishing my last bites of tasty goodness. alas, 'tis the price we pay for succulent treats and i am more than willing to pay it again in the future. i came home stuffed and promptly passed out in a food coma.

today, callista came over and we had a little scrap date. it was super fun and great to meet her! she is a sweet girl and i hope we can do it again soon. we watched "across the universe" and chatted. i had been to the store before she came and bought some fresh whole wheat rolls and made a pot of my grandmother's hamburger soup. it turned out very yummy and now i'll have lunch for most of the week!

here's the recipe:

grandma leona's hamburger soup
2- 29 oz. cans tomato sauce
1 to 1 1/2 quarts water (depending on how thick you like it)
1- lb 7% fat or less ground beef, browned
2- cups chopped and peeled carrots
1- onion
1- cup celery chopped
2- cloves garlic, finely chopped
3- cups peeled & cubed russet potatoes
1/4 cup brown rice or barley
salt and pepper to taste

mix together all ingredients except for potatoes in pot and let simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally. add potatoes last and cook until done.

(i know, super hard, huh?). its perfect for a snowy day like today... i love soup. i think it may be my favorite food, well no... not favorite... but second only to pie.

here's a layout i did two weeks ago that i've never posted and one i did today with an old picture of me i found in my stash. i was five! just graduated from preschool, it was 1987, how hilarious.

how was your weekend? anyone have news to share?

Project 52 Week 1

i really know how to pick em. i seem to always find the slowest line at the store, or get behind the person who has decided today is the day that they will open a credit card and save 2.50 additional. i change lanes to get out from behind a slow person only to find that the person in the other lane has decided its time to slow down and the person i was behind has sped up like mario andretti. i pick the treadmill at the gym next to the old guy who crop dusts like a mofo and then peeks at me out of the corner of his eye to see if i've smelled his stinkosfield. yes, i've smelled it and am running operation no-gag at this very moment and failing miserably thank you very much.

i guess i'm just lucky (wink wink).

last night i finished up a page for project 52 and started another while watching vanity fair. cute movie, i'd never seen it. i liked reese witherspoon ... she played a great character.

heres what i did for week one:

also, i bought gossip in the grain, the new ray lamontagne album per recommendation by stephanie and I am sooooo sooooo in love. i loved his first, but i love this one too. and on a side note, doesn't he kind of look like all known pictures of jesus christ? i mean... the traditional one you see? it makes me giggle. where are your birkenstocks dude? lets see 'em

and she ate cheese

i had a super-fantastic weekend. i was feeling a little sad and then a friend of mine from highschool was online. she travels a lot for work but i took a shot and asked her if she wanted to go out for a bit. as it turned out, she and another friend already had plans so i tagged along! we had a blast! seriously, it was so much fun catching up, hanging out. we went to the melting pot and had cheese and chocolate fondue for happy hour. omg, love the happy hour. i will be going back. definitely. fiesta cheese = heaven.

i also worked on a big project i'm doing for purple onion designs and watched three harry potters. ahhh, how i love thee. i've really been getting some use out of our movies.

i'm always late on pictures, but here's a little sampling of the craziness that ensued at our house on new years:
and here are a few of the projects I've been working on at purple onion (is it wrong that I'm living vicariously through jamie's wedding pictures since our wedding pics stunk royally?):

and here are some of the pages from the album i made my dad that i couldn't post before christmas because we found out someone was snoopy. yes dad, you are snoopy, are you reading this? you snoooopy snooperton.

do you ever spill coffee on yourself? i'm one of those notorious coffee spillers. i have little crusties in my car every time i clean it from a slurp of latte here or a speed bump there. i have a desk calendar at work that has rings all over it. i also have many a shirt that have been thrown away due to a stray stain on the collar or lapel. this morning actually, i spilled coffee all over myself and in an attempt to blot it out with a papertowel in the bathroom, i've caused a wet spot so large, it seems as though i should be wearing nursing pads in my bra. lucky me. working with all men, wet spot on tit.

god, happy monday, huh?

how was everyone's weekend?

a scrappy day

my buddy tenaya came over today for a scrap session. it was our first time meeting IRL (god that expression cracks me up) and it felt like we'd known eachother for years. she's sarcastic and funny and we had a great day scrapping and chatting and drinking some yummy wine she brought. we each finished two pages and then she left her thickers here. (hardy har har...devilish laugh and grin).

nah, i will give them back... i swear.

here are two new layouts for dad's book for christmas. this means i have only 8 to go... i'm really pleased with how its turning out. i got my new scarlet lime kit yesterday and both these layouts are pretty much from that. its very pretty... lots of cool fall themed goodness.

last night... fried rice. seriously delish. new recipe, light and everything... loved it. tonight... homemade lasagna...cheese/wine/pears for appetizer... my belt's getting tight just thinking about it.

(just an aside note... my favorite thing about this scarlet lime kit was that awesome rust fabric... it totally reminds me of my grandparents gargantuan sofa that my grandma always referred to as "the davenport". the sucker seriously seated 5 full-grown men... ahhh the memories... the davenports...)

omg, jane's out!

so, our new kit goes on sale tomorrow and i couldn't be more excited. yeah, everybody knows i'm a huge dmb fan... and since all our kits are named after girls, i figured... jane, dave's sister... the song that jane likes, etc... so, jane. there you have it. here are some shots of the kit and the three layouts i made with it. Jen J was our guest designer this month and she totally rocked it, um, yeah, she amazes me, so you gotta go over and check out her layouts at paperminx.com:

also this weekend i made a scrumptious dinner. (yes, i am TOTALLY tooting my own horn). i made a salad that i will definintely be making again

1 1/2 cups halved grape tomatoes
1 1/2 cups peeled chopped cucumber
1/4 cup feta cheese
1/2 cup diced red onion
pepper and salt to taste
drizzle with flavored olive oil and stir

MMMMM... it was simply divine

we had bbq'd corn on the cob flavored with chili powder, omg, you have to try it... amazing.

and mesquite pork chops

and garlic roasted red potatoes

no wonder i'm fat, eh?

i made this layout of my auntie also. she's so hilarious. she's got really bad allergies so when we were at the family reunion in june, she wore her surgical mask to ward off extra pollen...and we called her the S.A.R.S. patient all weekend. I think i should send her the link (haha)!!

look auntie, you're famous!! (omg, i'm still laughing...)

down-hill slide

i.am.so.relieved

jamie's wedding shower was yesterday and it went off without a hitch. unless you count it being unreasonably hot and sweat dripping off everyone's faces and nobody eating food because it was SO HOT. also, the damp papertowel was my best friend, as was the fan. in fact, i'm thinking of leaving cj for the boxfan. kidding.

but, it was fun, and i was glad to eat cake :). dude, when am i not glad to eat cake? i love cake. unfortunately, i'm a dum dum and i forgot to put out the yummy jell-o mush until the very last moment ... of course everyone was mostly done eating by that point, so we a a bazillion tons left over. i shall have to eat it. gee. darn.

jamie got a nice wine chiller and some lovely glasses, and several other things i can't wait to have her use to pamper me. i told her i was expecting a nice dinner in the new skillet and a lovely tray of goodies on the new platter, to be accompanied by a lovely chilled bottle of something wonderful.

i was mildly elated when the party was over, only to finish off the leftover mimosas while floating in the pool. its a hard life, but somebody's gotta do it.

i made a layout for scrapjacked this weekend. love marie's style, i've been an admirer for ages and just new i had to jack this one, hope everyone's weekends were pleasant and cake-filled.

new shiz

sometimes i talk like a dork and add a 'z' onto words that normally have no 'zzz' sound involved. take my title for example. or ... instead of 'walking' the dog, i 'wizalk' him. okay, its friday, i'm totally out of it. sorry for the randomness.

in other news, i had a very bad weightloss week so i promptly had a few pounders of mac n jack and ate four tacos. but ... i'm back on the wagon now. tonight i'm going to the gym, and tomorrow will be filled with healthy choices. sunday i will not drink a mimosa at jamie's shower and i will not eat wonderful, yummy costco cake ha, yeah right!

sassy scrappers asked me to guest design for them this month. they sent me a bunch of the awesome sultry line from basic grey, and i made a few goodies. first is my god daughter morgan. she's the cutest little thing ever! these photos were taken at a wedding (you know, the new species of animal..) in california. the second is from last weekend at the fabulous house in prosser, wa where we went wine tasting for jamie's bachelorette. absolutely wonderful girls weekend. i suggest everyone go out and have one. and the third is just a little silly card. thanks for looking, happy weekending!!
